The Little Ferrari That Could

The Little Ferrari That Could

The Formula 1 World Championship was contested for the first time in 1950, but it wasn’t until 1952-53 that the sport saw its first repeat champion—the driver was the great Alberto Ascari, and the car was the Ferrari 500 F2. Using the F2 specification, the Ferrari was smaller and lighter, and used only a 2.0L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine. Still, it was nearly unbeatable for two straight seasons, including and amazing streak of nine consecutive victories. CMC celebrates the masterful design with an equally masterful replica in 1:18. Comprised of 1463 individual pieces, this model is the perfect way to celebrate the ascendancy of the greatest marque in Formula 1 racing, and one of the sport’s greatest drivers.
