Dodge Delight American Excellence 1959 Royal Lancer

g Virgil Exner’s finny 1957-1959 “Forward Look” Mopar designs were instantly recognizable from any angle, and though restrained in comparison to contemporary Caddys, Dodge’s take on Exner’s visionary styling for 1959 sported traffic-stopping tailfins and headlight trim. American Excel- lence has just released this gorgeous resincast model of the top-line Custom Royal Lancer Hardtop. Its eye-grabbing high-gloss black and Canary Yellow paint matches color chips, and the shape and details check out perfectly. ThThe plated grille floats on photo-etched mesh, with legible “DODGE” letters inset; the optional twin antennas, “Jet Trail” taillights, and other trims are done with perfectly fitted 3D-etched parts. Tiny gold “Lancer” badges have authentic red and black segments, while equally eye- scrunching “D-500” fender badges indicate Dodge’s version of the legendary Hemi. Interior details are just as complete, with accurate upholstery, painted relief handles and window switches, and a fully and accurately detailed dash. Virgil would be proud. —Wayne
