Dig in the Dirt

Press Release: DHS Diecast Collectables, Inc., an industry leader in manufacturing and distributing diecast scale models of construction machinery and trucks, has announced details regarding its 7th Annual Open House Weekend for 2007, scheduled for July 28-29th in Berea, Ohio at their international headquarters.

Last year over 700 people attended the family-oriented DHS Open House Weekend and enjoyed thousands of diecast models to purchase, a huge construction toy auction, real construction equipment, a construction model and diorama show, live music, giveaways and free food.  “This year on Sunday morning, we are adding “Dig in the Dirt”, with live construction equipment operating,” said company president Chuck Sword.  “Our landlord has cleared over 10 acres next to our building and we will feature excavators, bulldozers and dump trucks working and moving dirt.  Equipment and rental companies from the area will bring in their best equipment to show off.  Kids of all ages will be able to see construction equipment operate up close and personal!”

Each year, DHS selects a local charity to highlight for the Open House weekend.  This year, Toys for Tots will receive over 350 toy trucks donated from DHS directly and cash donations will also be collected during the weekend from customers who attend the show.

“At the Open House Weekend, we will ask for small cash donations to attend Sunday’s Dig in the Dirt live equipment show.  All of the cash donations will go to the US Marines Toys for Tots program,” said Sword.  “We are proud to donate over 350 trucks to the program and we hope to have some cash to give as well.  The Marine Corps Reserve Battalion in Brookpark, Ohio has been very supportive and we hope to have them here to help collect donations and show off some of their equipment as well.”

The Open House Weekend starts on Saturday, July 28th with a huge diecast scale model construction and truck Toy Auction.  The auction will be held at the Middleburg Heights Community Center at 16000 Bagley Rd., Middleburg Heights, Ohio 44130 USA.   The auction preview starts at 12:00 noon and the auction itself will begin promptly at 1:00 pm.  There are over 310 scale models to be auctioned, including custom models and very hard to find vintage items.  If you want to preview the list of auction items and start bidding right now, visit DHS’s auction items listed at http://www.estateauctioneers.com.

On Sunday, July 29th, the Open House, Live Equipment Show, and Model and Diorama Show, are all open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at DHS Diecast’s Headquarters located at 107 Karl St., Berea, Ohio, just 10 minutes south of the Cleveland Hopkins Airport.  Enjoy free admission.  The Open House will showcase thousands of the best and newest diecast scale models available for 2007 from over 50 manufacturers.  Scheduled to make live appearances are new models from Sword Precision Scale Models as well as new models from TWH Collectibles, NZG, Conrad and many others.   At the Live Equipment Show, families can visit operating construction equipment up close and perhaps even ride on some of the machines as they move tons of real dirt.

The Model and Diorama Show is open to people of all ages showing off their own scale models or dioramas with a construction theme.  Everyone really enjoys being part of the show.  Prizes are awarded for first, second and third place.  The grand prizes are $500 for the best model display and another $500 for the best diorama display.

Free gourmet hot dogs, chips and soda pop will be provided to all Open House attendees on Sunday and the lot behind DHS will also be filled with real construction equipment, cranes and tractor-trailers.   For more information, visit www.dhsdiecast.com.
