Jaguar Returns to Le Mans Glory

Jaguar Returns to Le Mans Glory

HPI’s hyper-detailed 1/43 scale die-cast model line-up now includes the legendary Jaguar XJR-9 racing cars. The history of the XJR-9 stretches back to 1984, when Jaguar supplied engines to different teams competing in the North American IMSA GTP championship. This arrangement led to factory support for Group C endurance racing and within a short time Jaguar was fully participating in the World Sportscar Championship.

For the 1989 Le Mans 24 hours race, the Jaguar team put all its effort behind the XJR-9 chassis, realizing their ultimate goal when the #2 car piloted by Johnny Dumfries, Andy Wallace, and Jan Lammers finished the race in first place overall. In the IMSA GTP series, the XJR-9 won the 1989 24 Hours of Daytona, while in the World Sportscar Championship the XJR-9 took 5 victories plus Le Mans, handing the team the manufacturer’s title win. The Le Mans victory was the first for Jaguar since 1957, placing the XJR-9 high on the list of most-desired race cars of all time.

HPI precision die-cast metal models are 1/43 scale, a convenient size for any desk or display case. Incredible attention has been paid to make the shape of cars as true to scale as possible. Fine exterior details like radiators, disc brakes, brake calipers, mirrors, wings, exhaust, headlight buckets, mirrors, tow hooks and radio antennae combine to make the models extremely realistic. Each car has a fully painted and detailed interior, steering wheel, and dashboard. These models come mounted to a display platform that includes a clear plastic protective case and the car can be easily removed from the platform for individual display.

Remember: all of these fantastic recreations are made in limited quantities, once gone they will never be available again.
