Comic-Con is going on in San Diego this week, and the best reason to be there has to be this full-size sinister showstopper from Hot Wheels! The Darth Vader car is one of a series of Star Wars-themed Hot Wheels just released to celebrate the forthcoming Episode VII that is currently in production. And with typical Hot Wheels flair, they decided the best way to make a splash was to build a full-scale version!
The Vader car is no show queen though — its built on a fully functional C5 Corvette chassis.
The Force is definitely with the Vader Vette. Hot Wheels swapped in a tuned LS3 that makes a reported 526 horses — enough to give it a 150+mph top speed despite its less then aero-friendly face!
The roof even opens like Vader’s helmet does! Details like that should be enough to make the legions of Star Wars fanboys at Comic-Con swoon! (Open it looks a little like the classic Hot Wheels Red Baron to us…)
