Brooklin 1957 Oldsmobile Convertible

Brooklin 1957 Oldsmobile Convertible

Super 88

1:43 | $127

1957 brought new longer, lower (and heavier) bodies for the entire Oldsmobile lineup, incorporating what Harley Earl deemed the “Ho-Lo Bumper,” a full width oval that enclosed the mesh grille with block “Oldsmobile” lettersand parking lights. Brooklin has released this striking white-metal model of the mid-range Super 88 Convertible.ALL the trim, including the Olds hood and deck badges, fender-top “rocketships,”  and massive accent stripe sidetrim, is done with separate plated parts. That “Gold Mist Poly” paint ranks with Brooklin’s best and is just a shade brighter than paint chips indicate. Aside from the lack of the “Super 88” front fender scripts, Brooklin’s Olds is fully detailed, though that accent stripe should have a contrast color in the center. Brooklin has given the seats an authentic two-tone finish; door panels have the complex color separation lines engraved but are just one color and lack handles and cranks. The optional padded dash has a plated center section with accurate relief details and neatly painted sun visors and steering wheel rim. Wide whites and those coveted flipper caps finish off a realisticmodel. —Wayne Moyer
