Spark 1968 Series II Jaguar E-Type Coupe
1:43 | $75

Jaguar had a winner when they introduced the E-Type Coupeand Convertible (known on this side of the ocean as the XKE),in 1961. Even Enzo Ferrari called it “the most beautiful car evermade.” Jaguar made mechanical improvements on a running basis, but wisely left the shape alone until American regulations required changing the headlights in 1967. ‡ The “Series II”was introduced in 1968, incorporating all the earlier changes along with a larger nose opening, radiator and more rake to the windshield. Spark’s new resincast Series II E-Type is unusual in representing a home-market car; the vast majority were exported to the U.S., and most models are of left hand drive XKE’s. Spark has done their homework very well; this RHD coupe has all the visible Series II identifying features, while the lack of side marker lights and seat belts is correctfor British cars. Crisp panel lines, delicate louvers, and the authentic Opalescent Gray Metallic paint is as good as you’ll find in this scale. Major brightwork parts are plated, the fender top trim and windshield frame are bright printed chrome, and the side window frames, wipers, and gorgeous wire-spokewheels are photo-etched (no brake disks behind them, sadly).Interior details are as complete and correct as the exterior, and there’s crisp relief chassis and drive-train detail on the base plate, with chromed exhaust tips.
