McConnellsburg, Pa., July 5, 2007 - JLG Industries, Inc., a subsidiary of Oshkosh Truck Corporation [NYSE: OSK], announced the release of two 1:32-scale die cast model replicas of its All Terrain Lifter Army Systems (ATLAS II) telescopic material handlers used by the U.S. Army. Having recently been awarded more than $140 million in military contracts to provide ATLAS and ATLAS II telehandlers, JLG will manufacture and release these high-quality rugged die cast designs in both olive-drab and desert sand colors this fall.
ATLAS II Military Telehandler
Measuring over 16 inches in length, the scale model replicas of the ATLAS II will have the ability to extend their three-section boom over 10 inches in the air at angles up to 45 degrees. These models feature JLGs Lift & Lock technology that allows collectors to display the machines in the working position. The replicas of the ATLAS II feature realistic paint schemes and decals; a highly detailed operators cab and engine compartment; and 20 fully-functioning parts that allow them to roll forward and backward, lift and extend the boom arm and rotate the wheels into crab, four-wheel and two-wheel steer modes.
Featuring high ground clearance and 10,000 lbs. lift capacity, the U.S. military has been using the ATLAS, ATLAS II and their predecessor, the 6000M, telehandlers since 1990. There are over 2,300 ATLAS telehandlers in service around the world used to lift, transport and load materials supporting military logistics. The ATLAS II is equipped with four-wheel drive, frame leveling, and plenty of horsepower. The availability of multiple attachments such as various fork configurations, a utility bucket, and fork-rollers provide added versatility.
